ResumeDegrees & Credentials: Ph.D. China Agricultural University, Animal Feed Science and Technology Postdoc College of Engineering, China Agricultural University Research Areas: Ruminant Nutrition Methane Mitigation Rumen Microbiology Biography: Dr. Wu got his bachelor and master degree from Department of Animal Science and Technology, China Agricultural University, with the major of Animal Science and Animal Feed Science and Technology, respectively. Dr. Wu went to The Ohio State University for joint doctoral research program supported by China Scholarship Council in 2013 to 2015 under supervision of professor Yu, who is a microbiologist both inside (mainly the gastrointestinal track) and outside (the surrounding environments) of food animals. Dr. Wu’s research interest in ruminant nutrition studies of feed processing with both physical and chemical methods. At present, he is undergoing a project with steam explosion, which has been proved to break down the lignocellulose of straws. He is also interested in studies of microbiome of the rumen, especially cellulolytic bacteria and methanogens, which responsible for fiber digestion and methane production, respectively. The ultimate goal is to apply such knowledge to enhance feed utilization, and to minimize the environmental impact of food-animal production. Both classical animal nutritional methods and molecular biology techniques (e.g., real-time PCR, DGGE) are employed in his research.
